Starting With Brown: “Colorful” by @VaryusWaise (prod by Cash Jordan)

“I paint your beauty on a song and I’m starting with brown the color that surrounds your smile…”

Make no mistake those lyrics are LOVE, the makings of appreciation from a man to his woman. On his new track “Colorful” Varyus Waise pens an ode to his brown sistas over a mellow track that is meant to steal our hears and abolish any attempts at anihilating our souls. Read more about this song from Varyus Waise…

“There’s been a great deal of anger, dehumanization and violence aimed towards Black women in recent times. Between the arrest of Daniele Watts for alleged prostitution for kissing her boyfriend in public, the assault of Janay Rice, the scathing article in the New York Times about Shonda Rimes and more, there has not been a lot of love for Black women in the media.

And there also hasn’t been a great amount of love for them in hip-hop recently, unfortunately.

“Colorful” is a song I wrote inspired by a great Black woman to know that there are men out there who will love you and honor you for the queens you are.

You are beautiful. You are valued. You are love.

Wear your crowns proud, sisters…

Peace and Love… V. #SaturdayMorningMusic”

“Silence” – by @PrendaBlaque (Prod. by Franky D. Tales)

I really don’t know much about this artist except that this track was on my SoundCloud list with a link to the track’s video. I like the mellow vibe on the track and the old school feel of the video. In other words, Prenda Blaque forgoes all the bells, and whistles that one might be used to seeing in videos and demands that you acknowledge his craft. Sip some green tea, relax, and enjoy!

“Silence” is off Prenda Blaque second EP entitled “Aestroid”

Losing Is Not An Option: “Calvary” by @1KGaines ft. @JohnnyVoltik (prod. by @2HungryBros)

Okay, this is not hip hop/soul a la BBD/Poison/Rickey Bell hittin’ us up with his high notes… because K. Gaines and Johnny Voltik reach far beyond our aesthetic taste buds on this track and reprograms our soul. If you like lyricism with a touch of old soul then this track is for you. Johnny Voltik’s vocals are already on repeat in my head! “Calvary” is the third single from K. Gaines’s project “Rumspringa: The Wildman Chronicles” which is now available on iTunes. Enjoy?

Sinful In Character: “Put It On (For My City)” by SicFam | @SicFam (Prod. Samuel Truth)

This is a track that was sent to me several days ago by a collective known as SICFAM. I like possees.
I like collectives. Read on…

“SICFAM or SiC is a collective hiphop music group out of Brooklyn, New York. There is currently 7 members of sicfam with different flavors of sound which adds a bit of versatility as a group. The letters SIC is an acronym Sinful In Character, which speaks on the world and people in general. We are indifferent and there is one body everything is one everything is something sinful.”

Quality Hip Hop: “#BTL” by LiKWuiD | @Likwuid (Prod. By @2HungryBros)

I have been meaning to add LiKWuid’s video to the blog for a long time. Sometimes a blogger’s offline life can be so distracting mentally. However, my music blogging moto is “Music is timeless.” Thus, my Sagittarian mindset will celebrate you like you brand new. It is a blessing to be on the receiving end of quality hip hop…

3Tracks!: “Monk’s EP” – by Gone Wallace | @GoneWallace

“@GoneWallace I thought I heard you “twice” the first time. DAMN Why can’t you be like @2Chainz??? LOL #10Fold”

He don’t rap like 2Chainz. Here’s 3Tracks to prove it…

Philly artist Gone Wallace releases his latest 3 track EP entitled “Monks” which is the appetizer to.his upcoming project “Passion Project”.

Gone Wallace’s take on “Monks”…

“Monk’s the diner from Seinfeld. It was like a spot where they went to discuss their problems and forget about shit. And I was going through some things while working on ‘Passion Project’ which resulted in me being affected negatively by the two. ‘Monk’s (EP)’ is symbolic of my escape from those problems..”

My take…

Using “Seinfield” as the theme for the project the EP starts off with the jazzy stylings of “10Fold” which demands the listener’s undivided attention – you have to learn to hear him twice the first time. Next its off to “Tom’s Restaurant” where Gone Wallace sits at a table, gets philosophical, all while asking the waitress the unthinkable – “Can we smoke in here?” The last stop on this short trip is “Smoker’s Cough”… And all I can say is that Gone Wallace has a unique gift of inviting you into any “culture” and making you feel right at home. Enjoy the ride!

Listen to “Monk’s” now on SoundCloud.

@KeefLouda tweeted the link to this video on my other Twitter account… If pissy hallways ain’t the definition of grimey then I don’t know what is. CAUTION: The cypher at the beginning of the video is hilarious! This is grimey… Enjoy!
