“Baby girl wanted to go to an island/so I took her to Alameda…”. Only a Bay Area native like myself can both chuckle at and appreciate Trey Coastal’s opening line for their track “Polynesian Sand”. Heck, my own family started their California roots on “Alameda Island”. Now, the visuals for the track catapults the Bay Area vibe into another realm as emcees Philip Bank$ and Cam Moss are filmed at different locations in Oakland exchanging lyrics while seated on an inflatable couch. Even the aerial view of Lake Merritt in the first seconds makes one think.about some jet ski fun – but nah, it’s two emcees building on some lyrical cake at the lake. Trey Coastal also includes producer Rye Mann. “Polynesian Sand” can be found on Trey Coastal’s debut album “No Lay-Ups (Side A)”. Enjoy!
