When individual freshness comes together to create royal dopeness on some classic hip hop Queendom shit, it’s nothing but pure flames! The Toronto collective The Sorority, which includes emcees Haviah Mighty, Keysha Freshh, pHoenix Pagliaccia and the “female 6 God” herself Lex Leosis, did a remake of Lil Kim’s “Ladies Night (Not Tonight Remix)” which features hip hop heavyweights (for our culture) Angie Martinez, Left Eye (R.I.P.) , Da Brat, and Missy Elliott. What I love about this 3.0 version is, that it is a surprisingly sort of slowed and throwed version of “Ladies Night” with lyrical assaults coming from all four emcees. Also, this song not only celebrates International Women’s Month but celebrates the female hip hop shoulders from which these ladies now PROUDLY stand  upon. So much respect is woven throughout the track as shown on Haviah Mighty’s verse when she shouts out all the great female emcees. And shout out to Kool and The Gang who blessed us with the original and now timeless track in the first place. The Sorority really makes the original “Ladies Night” come full circle. Okay, drop that guitar bass, Robert “Kool” Bell… Y’all enjoy!
