“Last Year” by Scott King | @RealScottKIng

“Criminal Minded,
Look,
I’m BPD, EMPD,
With a twist of TDE… “
Scott King is back with his latest track entitled “Last Year”. On the track Scott King is all about reflection hence the title of the track as he talks about others perception of where they think he is “not”, keeping his family a priority, and moving forward with the the plan the he has mapped out. “Last Year” is an airy filled track and Scott King switched up the pace and ditched his more aggressive flow and got all the way laid back with it. Instead of the thunderous bars that fans are accustomed to, Scott King is strategic with delivering every verse on the track and still ensures that listeners are all good afterwards. His forthcoming EP, “Early Arrival, Late Departure” featuring the likes of Miguel and Musiq Soulchild will be released soon. In the meantime, listen and enjoy!

“BREADWINNER” by Lights La Soul | @LightsLaSoul

Lights La Soul recently released his movie style visuals for “BREADWINNER” which is a track off of his latest project “DAGO” EP (Dreaming About Getting Out). In the visuals, the films takes getting laid off from a job to a whole new climatic level in under four minutes. The chain of events are predictable once Lights’s character (he plays a cook) receives that performance review meeting voice mail from his boss “Kim” and then overhears her on the phone say “Yeah, I’m gonna fire him after his shift ends”. Yep, in the first 40 seconds you already know its going to be a fucked up day, but its how the director achieves the level of fucked that is surprising. See the visuals for yourself below, and remember, don’t let the “bread” win you. Y’all enjoy!

“Adulting” (Official Video) by Lyric Jones | @LyricJones (prod. by @_Nameless)

Photo: thelyricjones.com

Emcee, vocalist, and drummer Lyric Jones and producer Nameless recently dropped their project entitled “GA$ MONEY”. The title of the project derives from Lyric and Nameless’s mutual understanding that gas money is the common requirement needed for their “services in the music business” and not losing sight of the fact that their services have value with a compensation requirement that is not always adhered to. “GA$ MONEY” consists of ten tracks and recently Lyric and Nameless dropped the first single and visuals from the project entitled “Adulting”. On the track, Lyric flexes her beautiful vocals and of course gives fans the dope lyricism that she is known for. In the seemingly one shot visuals, Lyric grapples with the reality of whether or not she wants to do what she wants to do or do more responsible adult like activities. The visuals immediately resonate with that “I don’t really feel like it” voice that resides in our head from time to time, and will make you want to either get your shit together or crawl back into your comfortable bed. “GA$ MONEY” is now available on all digital streaming platforms. Enjoy!

#52in365 Week 13: “Money In The Way” by @Nothin2Much (prod. @nolo_ellis)

Regardless if you”ve recently started tuning in or you’ve been here since day one – welcome to Week 13 of the #52in365 #FormerlyFresh music campaign. Jacobi is servin’ all the musical love this week as he dropped the EP “Viewer’s Discretion” with DJ/producer Dr. View and he and producer Nolo Ellis released their high powered track “Money In The Way”. And of course, the later track is why you are here on this post…

“All this money brings
Distractions & complacency
But nah,
I’m makin’ money
It ain’t makin me…”

The smoke, the fire, and the smoldering embers – that is exactly what Nolo Ellis brings to the table on the head noddin’ and bouncy “Money In The Way”. Coupled with the aggressive lyricism about how the distraction of money can hinder one’s success by Jacobi, and Nolo’s production, the track snatches your soul, dusts you off and quietly sends you home with your vibrations altered and raised. In true #52in365 fashion, it’s a message filled banger that’ll keep them red cups raised… Yep, you gone “rock” different after this listening experience. “Money In The Way” is now available on Apple Music and all other digital streaming platforms and you can preview the track below. Enjoy! – MSDFQN

@Nothin2Much and DJ/Producer @DrView1 Release The Soulful and Gritty “Viewer’s Discretion” EP

Recently Lawton, OK’s Jacobi Ryan and Longview, TX producer and DJ, Dr. View teamed up for their collaborative EP entitled “Viewer’s Discretion”. On the six track EP, Dr. View often times provides a soulful, yet gritty soundscape as can be heard on the tracks “122nd and Penn” and “Lawton View” as well as providing listeners with well intentioned, hip hop bangers as displayed on the new classic sounding, beat box infused, Steph Curry mean muggin’, “DOLO” – Yep, welcome to that #OklahomaTexasKnock. Beware, though this EP is not for the haters, naysayers, and doubters, as Jacobi stays consistent with his message, via his relentless lyricism, when it comes to one’s journey of manifesting goals and visions regardless of life’s distractions. “Viewer’s Discretion” is now available on Apple Music and all other digital streaming platforms. Enjoy! – MSDFQN

“Toast To It” (Official Video) by Jacobi Ryan | @Nothin2Much – Prod. by Hunt

Today, Jacobi Ryan released the latest visuals from his #52in365 #FormerlyFresh campaign – Week 12’s drop, “Toast To It”. Filmed against the backdrop of a neighborhood filled with artistic graffiti and murals in Oklahoma, the visual for “Toast To It” uses cinematic effects that transition with each of Jacobi’s verses. The effects strategically captures the total point that Jacobi makes in the theme of the song – you have to go and grow through your journey before arriving at the celebratory end, hence “Toast To It”. And, ain’t no filter here, his demeanor is all confident Jacobi “The Arsonist” on this one as can be felt in the visuals as well as his message and delivery….

“Niggas quick to turn down
But won’t turn down
To get focused.
You see me,
I never buckled.
I just buckle down.”

Yep, always on one even when he’s gifting his experiences turned lessons to his fans. Jacobi is still “a kid at heart” though, just ask them Powerpuff Girls… Cold ass name drop. Y’all enjoy!

THE PODCAST…

Episode 12 of #TMIKTMID podcast is now live and this week’s topics include: How you can support ya homies, why your retirement is more important than your child’s college fund , and ⁣of course, the story behind “Toast to It”. As always… If the podcast “has provided value”, feel free to share your feedback at IG/Twitter: @Nothin2Much.⁣

“Curriculum of the Mind” (Official Video) by @tspalbum (Day’Quann, think.progress, Deezy, Beety & Jacobi Ryan)

When them struggles hit differently or it’s predetermined that your struggles will hit differently, the response can entail a myriad of problems, unresolved solutions, fake band-aids over festering wounds and righteous protests. For as long as I have been black these issues seem to be akin to an unnecessary crack in our system that is disappointingly inevitable – and it doesn’t stop at just being marginalized.

“You will be told you belong in one and shown you don’t belong in the other.”

Enter the track and video for “Curriculum of the Mind” from the forthcoming project “The Space Program” by The Space Program Collective which builds upon these very issues from the perspective of a young black male college student. Even the opening scene of the video is riveting, which features hip hop artist Day’Quann. The scene capures his struggle to second guess the broken promises of higher learning through the eyes of a black male student with solutions that come from the “hollowest” of eyes. Before dozing off to sleep and being met with The Space Program astronaut and emcee in his dream, he reaches out to his mom via a heartfelt voice mail message to not only announce his “disengagement” from college but also to lovingly acknowledge the persistent “back home” struggles that they “both” face. I love the irony displayed here – Day’Quann’s level of understanding he gives his mom versus the lack of understanding he receives as a student. As a college graduate of a predominately “not so black college” myself, this video has made me mentally revisit my own college experiences and those of my counterparts. “The Space Program” album will drop on April 5th, and is stacked heavy with numerous artists. You can, and you should subscribe to the e-mail updates here. Y’all absorb and enjoy!

“Waves” (Official Music Video) – Haviah Mighty | @HaviahMighty ft. Sean Leon

Haviah Mighty is back picking up right where she just left us feeling the smoke and personal insight on “In Women Colour”. This time her light shines on the visuals for the collabo on the high energy track “Waves” ft. Sean Leon. Although Sean Leon is not in the video Haviah Mighty drips with an artistic appeal all her own – lyricism impeccable, and even her multi-colored lipstick is snatching wigs. “Waves” appears on her forthcoming album entitled “13th Floor” which is now available for pre-order here and will be on all digital streaming platforms on Friday May 10th. Y’all enjoy!!
