“Fluctuate” by Terry Mak| @FlyTerryMak (prod. Lexi Banks)

“When the problem fluctuates,
You get to see who real or fake…”

No stranger to the pages of The Greener Side of Hip Hop, New Jersey’s Terry Mak recently resurfaced and after almost a year hiatus, he’s back with that #NewGodEnergy. Yesterday, Terry Mak released his brand new track – the bounce and bass heavy “Fluctuate”. Produced by Lexi Banks, the song is about how life goes up and down, and one’s response to it – “What matters  is how you deal with the circumstances, pressure builds character.” (Terry Mak).  Yep, you gotta, let yourself live too – enjoy this vibe y’all!

“No Interruptions” (Official Video) Rymeezee | @Rymeezee

“You can’t let your emotions get the best of you.” – Rymeezee

San Francisco’s own Rymeezee is back with new music and recently dropped the visuals for his latest single “No Interruptions”. On the track, Rymeezee delivers a message of inner peace and getting a piece via his lyrics and evokes the same emotions with beautiful scenery as the visuals were shot in Hawaii. The song and visuals are a total positive vibe and features a familiar sound bite from actor Will Smith about making other people happy – “you cannot make a person happy.” It’s so true, sometimes you have to laser focus on YOU, find the peace, and get a piece with “no interruptions” . Y’all enjoy!

“No Interruptions” is now available on all digital streaming platforms.

🏁 “Tears Of Joy Coming Soon” by Jacobi Ryan | @Nothin2Much (prod. by Just E)

Listen, wherever you’re at on your journey to achieve your goals, this week’s #52in365 track is meant be the light that shines when you pause for a minute reflect, look up to thank the Creator, and tell yourself – “Shit, I got this”. Yep, this that self-affirming mantra you need…

“Tears of joy coming soon.
I been lookin at the moon.
I been starin at the stars.
I been tryin to get in tune.
I been goin through a lot.
Lights is off in the room.
Gotta a lot on my mind.
I been runnin off fumes…”

Today, Jacobi Ryan kicked off Week 15 of his #52in365 #FormerlyFresh music campaign and movement with the release of the “baton carrying” and optimistic song “Tears Of Joy Coming Soon”. Set to a boom bap, synth style track with production by Oklahoma’s Just E, “Tears Of Joy Coming Soon” is more of a personal anthem that speaks to one’s self awareness about their motivation (“I ain’t worried bout the pain/Know it’s all gon’ manifest.”) and strong faith whereas the only outcome will be a job well done despite the many highs and lows (“I’ve been facing elimination/Like a nigga playin’ in game 6.”). What l’m really feeling on this track, is the way Jacobi flows with that self confidence and spirit that makes you never want to fall back on your own journey. Again, #52in365 emodies a movement to inspire others and in the past Jacobi used the phrase “this for them” in his lyrics. Thus, “Tears Of Joy Coming Soon” serves to reinvigorate that inner hustler in you, so – “this for you”. Y’all enjoy!

“Tears Of Joy Coming Soon” is now available on all digital streaming platforms.

🏁 The Anthem: “Who R U?” (Official Video) by Jacobi Ryan | @Nothin2Much (prod. by Jaylord)

“This the anthem
For people working on it
The ones who want the money
With the purpose on it…”

The marathon continues… Jacobi Ryan dropped the visuals for his edgy and message filled, Week 14 track entitled “Who R U?” (or also “Who Are You?”) the other day. Produced by Jaylord, in the visuals Jacobi delivers the anthemic “Who R U?” from the heart of downtown Oklahoma, while enjoying “who” he is and indulging in a game of ping-pong – yeah that’s the “bounce” – listen to the beginning of the track. If you haven’t heard “Who R U?”, on the track, Jacobi draws from personal experience as he describes his journey to becoming more self-aware of himself, sans what others might think he should be, and at the same times makes listeners think about how they may regard themselves by purposefully and repeatedly asking “Who R U?” on the hook of the track. Yes, the track is meant to make you question somethin’ – are you, you? Or are you the product of the opinions of what others label you to be? The #52in365 #FormerlyFresh music campaign is not only a music campaign it’s a movement inspiring you to create, own and think for yourself. “Hoodie up, mind open, mouth closed… “. Y’all enjoy!

Episode 14 of Jacobi Ryan’s #TMIKTMID podcast is now live. This week’s topics include: grief and productivity, why it’s so hard for us to admit we don’t know anything, RIP Nipsey tha Great, and of course the story behind this week’s track “Who R U?”. This week’s podcast is informative and certainly tugs at the heart, as the hip hop world continues to grieve the passing of Nipsey Hussle who was an inspiration to Jacobi… #365 continues to carry the baton and “it won’t be in vain.”

#52in365 “Who R U?” – Jacobi Ryan | @Nothin2Much (prod. by Jaylord)

“Gotta figure out who r u?
Errybody swear they know
What’s best for you.
I don’t know who you talkin’ to.
Hoodie up, mind open, mouth closed…
Who r u?”
– Jacobi Ryan, “Who R U?”

Do you really know who you are? That’s the question coming out of the #52in365 vault today, as Jacobi Ryan dropped his Week 14 release entitled “Who R U?”. Produced by Jaylord, “Who R U?” is an airy filled, melodic, and light on the boom bap style track bounce track. On “Who R U?” Jacobi gets a little insightful about his past circumstances such as losing his apartment, and stoically readies himself for war (“Hoodie up/Mind open/Mouth closed”) when it comes to tackling adversity as the only solution is to rise above it with your own mindset – thus “who are you?”. Jacobi also refers to the track as the anthem for “the “people workin’ on it, the ones who want the money with the purpose on it”, once again driving home the message of hustling hard to work towards your own dreams. And yep, Jacobi’s Lonewolf, no fear demeanor is written all over this one – he from Lawton and he most definitely ain’t for the weak at heart. “Who R U?’ is now available on all digital streaming platforms. Enjoy! – MSDFQN

🏁 “Money In The Way” (Official Visuals) by Jacobi Ryan | @Nothin2Much (prod. by @nolo_ellis)

Photo: Sike Images

“First things first” – Rest In Peace to Nipsey Hussle. Hip hop lost and mourned greatness this week – but the impact of Nipsey Hussle’s inspiration (which I’ve learned so much about via the voices he has impacted) and legacy will live on. Jacobi Ryan touched upon Nipsey’s influence on him in this week’s #TMIKTMID podcast. The #52in365 #FormerlyFresh music campaign as well as a lot of Jacobi Ryan’s past, current and forthcoming endeavors are Nipsey Hussle, Gary Vee, J Cole, or Lawton, OK inspired – and he gets it from his parents too. So, shout out to all the “collective baton carriers” who were inspired over the years to implement Nipsey Hussle’s vision about creating, owning and investing in themselves while still dealing with his untimely passing. His spirit always did and will continue to live on within the #52in365 campaign.

“They throwin stones,
But Imma be alright…
I take advice every time
I talk to Jesus Christ.”

Alright… still rollin’ regardless and still providing value, Week 13 of the #52in365 #FormerlyFresh music campaign kicked off with the release of the Nolo Ellis produced track “Money In The Way”. And yesterday, Jacobi blessed fans with the visuals and iced it with with statistics and knowledge about the racial wealth gap in America. Yep, the marathon continues. So don’t get blindsided by the classic cars in the video, Jacobi’s aggressive flow and lyricism, or enraptured by Nolo’s fire production on the track (if you can help it – the track is infectious ). Instead, focus on the investment that Jacobi made in himself by learning so he could pass his financial knowledge (among other things) on to the masses and also spark conversations and the minds of future visionaries using his #52in365 #FormerlyFresh campaign…

“Because of Nipsey Hussle…”, “Because of Jacobi…”. “Because of (insert your name)…”. Iron sharpens iron. Y’all enjoy!

Episode 13 of @Nothin2Much’s #TMIKTMID podcast is now live. Topics include: Nipsey tha Great, the lie about what wealth looks like, how wealth really looks, 50 Cent – wealthy and bankruptcy, and of course the story behind “Money In The Way”. As always… If the podcast “has provided value”, feel free to share your feedback at IG/Twitter: @Nothin2Much.

“Frame” (Official Video) by Nyemiah Supreme | @nyemiahsupreme (Prod. by @183rdmusic)

“Don’t put me in a box,
Put me in a frame.
Let them other ones
Know we were never the same…”

Yeah, one has to really dig into their feelings to come up with lyricism that is pure poetic, especially when it makes a listener responds with, “Did she mean this, or did she mean that?” And, whatever the intentions of the lyrics were, it totally resonates with some part of a listener’s psyche because they have either experienced the situation at hand or are currently going through it and the words just re-labeled the situation “correctly” – and damn, there is that epiphany you didn’t know you needed. Thus, I love how Niyemah Supreme states the obvious and states the ugly truth on the the chorus (see above) for her track “Frame”. “Frame” which is all about one’s questionable position in a relationship, is on the collaborative five track EP with producer 183rd entitled “Energy”. With Niyemah’s vocals and straightforward lyricism, coupled with the nice melodic production by 183rd, this is definitely a vibe you can’t deny. The “Energy” EP is available on all streaming platforms. And of course, you can enjoy the visuals below.

Hers & His: “Settle Down” by Jane Handcock | @handcockjay x Chippass | @nhtchippass

Bay Area artists, singer/songwriter Jane Handcock and rapper Chipass recently released their four track EP entitled “Hers & His”. Jane Handcock and Chipass are new to the pages of TGSofHH and I didn’t know what to expect when I first listened, but immediately I was vibin’ to the vocals and lyricism from Jane and the heart of the streets and hoods from Chipass’s flow on the track “Settle Down”. The track is refreshing and a great mix of hip hop, soul, and rnb that does not feel contrived. This is exactly what your ears have been waiting for if you stan for that hip hop and rnb turn up. “Hers and His” is now available on all digital streaming platforms. Enjoy!

“Ain’t Got No Haters” (Official Video) Ice Cube ft. Too Short

Ice Cube, Too $hort. Classic early 80s and 90s vibe. Already legendary and household names in the hip hop arena – on sight you know who they are. The only intro needed is the name of track and visual “I Aint’t Got No Haters” which is a single from Ice Cube’s current album “Everyrthang’s Corrupt”. If all the above does not sink in, allow a Google search to guide you. Enjoy!
